Psychic Shadows: Scorpio Season

During this season, as the veils between this world and the next are thin, many across cultures and religious and spiritual traditions honor the holy days (Samhain, Dia de los Muertos, All Hallow's Eve, All Saints Day, All Souls Day, Witches New Year), which celebrate the natural cycle of life-death-life and the full spectrum of the human experience. Scorpio knows about these things. That decay, composting, mortality, intensity, depth, and a connection to all that is painful and destructive is ultimately regenerative and transformative. That death feeds life.

You're invited to know these things that are hard to know. To proceed as if what is happening is actually happening. You're invited to descend into the dark, and stand in your power as you stare down your deepest fears.

Show up as you are now, raw and tender, and risk being witnessed. Greet what's lurking in your own personal underworld, your selves, your deepest emotional and psychological attachments, instinctual drives and unconscious desires. Follow your innermost knowing down there. You can trust it.

Shed consciously what is in the way of your most authentic embodiment. Die to the iterations of yourself that do not serve you and, like the phoenix, rise up from the ashes anew with heart on fire, personal power intact, eyes fixed on what is possible when you say, "yes" to death and re-birth.

Don't be afraid to destroy before you create. Art and magic and life and death are messy, and there must always be a breaking down before a building up. Give yourself the space to discover what is in your darkest dark and the grace to unbecome all that you are not. Surrender your agenda to the mystery, and let be what will be, and let it all be medicine.

If shit feels relentless, and you find yourself confronted with psychic shadows and monsters of your own making and ancestral curses… yeah, me too.

The word "confront" is from the French confronter (15c.), meaning "to stand in front of, be facing." Stop running from what's trying to teach you about surrender. Face what has come to you for witness. Meet what is here now with humility (get low, ground yourself, belly on the earth) and courage (from the heart, the seat of your innermost knowing).

Stop trying to make sense. Stop grasping for control. Release your resistance, surrender your agenda and just be with the trouble. This the work.

If you can, lay low. Rest. Soothe your system and settle your spirit.

Reflect:

• What have you overcome?

• What have you learned, lost and lived on to tell the tale of?

• How can you practice loving hard what is here - whether you chose it or not?

• How will you carry on this journey of discovery and recovery moving forward?
